PBAPP faces backlash: Penang taps ran dry more than 24 hours early in areas


GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) has incurred the ire of its customers whose taps ran dry more than 24 hours before the scheduled water supply disruption.

Those affected took to Facebook on Thursday (April 24), slamming the corporation for shutting down the taps running dry, as the scheduled water cut was supposed to begin at 10pm on Friday (April 25).

Readers of The Star living in Sungai Ara, Sungai Bakap and Simpang Ampat have also reported that their taps have run dry.

Attempts have been made to seek comment from the corporation’s chief executive officer, Datuk K. Pathmanathan, for comments during the time of writing.

Residents, businesses, and companies have been preparing for a potential 60-hour water disruption affecting 340,000 consumers, scheduled to begin at 10pm on Friday.
