Former Nadma deputy DG Zamakhshari is new Ipoh mayor


ZAMAKHSHARI Hanipah has been appointed the new Ipoh mayor.

The former National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) deputy director-general (Disaster Preparation and Planning) received his appointment letter from Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad on Wednesday (April 16).

In a post on Facebook, Saarani said Zamakhshari's experience in government administration would be an advantage when leading the Ipoh City Council to be more efficient and effective.

"I am confident that with his leadership, aspirations for Ipoh to be a smart and sustainable city can be achieved holistically," he said.

Other positions Zamakhshari has held include National Solid Waste Management Department director-general, Road Transport Department deputy director-general, and director of the Terengganu and Selangor security councils.

He had also served as Hulu Gerik district officer, Gerik District Council president and Perak security council assistant director.
