KUALA LUMPUR: Over one thousand police officers and personnel will be deployed to maintain security throughout Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa told a press conference at city police headquarters here Monday (April 14) that security will be heightened during the visit of a leader of a superpower.

“This is a very important visit... As of now, a total of 1,098 policemen have been deployed. We are also being assisted by Bukit Aman in this.
“This (level of security) is based on assessments. This is also the SOP for such visits," he said.
Rolling road closures are also to be expected as Xi makes his way to and from his hotel.

“As soon as he arrives (at the hotel), the road leading there will be completely closed.
“Any movement (of his) will involve road closures for security (reasons) and we urge cooperation from the public,” he said.
Earlier, Comm Rusdi oversaw the handing over of duties from outgoing deputy city police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob to his replacement, DCP Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad.
