BATU PAHAT: The Jeng Kuan Restaurant food court in Jalan Shah Bandar near here was gutted by fire in the wee hours of Thursday (April 3).

Batu Pahat fire station chief Ayub Majid said 21 firefighters from the Batu Pahat and Bandar Penggaram stations were dispatched to the scene, about 3km away.

“The fire damaged about 60% of the structure housing seven food stalls," he said in a statement.

Ayub said the fire was raging when the teams arrived at the site at 3.06am.

They managed to extinguish the blaze in just over five minutes and the operation concluded at 3.39am, he said.
