Celebrate Hari Raya with love and harmony, say leaders

PETALING JAYA: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration is a time to be kinder to one another, and lessons learned during the holy month of Ramadan must be followed at all times, say leaders.

They also advised Malaysians to drive safely during the celebration and savour the good times they spend with family members.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration is the best moment to strengthen brotherhood, relationships and love among one another.

“To those on their way back to their hometowns, be cautious on the roads.

“Celebrate this Syawal with gratitude, simplicity and repentance with your loved ones,” he added.

He also urged Malaysians to foster love, harmony and unity, as these values are central to national development.

“May this Syawal bring us the light of happiness, blessings and peace to all of us,” Ahmad Zahid said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusoff said lessons learned in the holy month must be followed at all times and not just during Ramadan.

“We are encouraged to continue to be steadfast and moderate in all matters, especially when celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” said Fadillah, adding that the Ramadan month taught Muslims to be patient and charitable.

“Hopefully, we can continue this practice in other months and ensure that kindness is practised at all times.”

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also extended his Hari Raya greetings to all Muslims in a video posted on Facebook.

“Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf zahir dan batin. May this Syawal continue to bring joy and blessings to all of us, which we are grateful for,” he said.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said Aidifitri presents an opportunity for Malaysians to appreciate the spirit of unity and the value of the diversity that shapes the nation.

“Hari Raya is a symbol of strong unity in our multiracial and multicultural society, just as we celebrate Deepavali, Chinese New Year and other festivals.

“It serves as a space for us to appreciate the strength that comes from diversity and to embrace the beauty of being united as one Malaysia Madani family,” he said.

He said Anwar’s leadership has consistently prioritised the interests of all communities, as this forms a strong foundation for harmony and unity.

“This is the beauty of Malaysia that we cherish, where we live together in peace and harmony. Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin,” Ramanan added.

In his Hari Raya message, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed hope that this year’s celebrations will further strengthen bonds of brotherhood and unity within the community, fostering harmony and mutual respect.

“The tradition of visiting one another and exchanging gifts as a token of remembrance remains widely practised, reflecting the growing spirit of love and appreciation for diversity.

“These noble values shape our humanity and must be preserved,” he said.

Chow also said Penang remains committed to promoting Islamic development, including through the construction of mosques, surau, religious schools and tahfiz institutions.
