Preservation of mangrove forests helps in mitigating climate change, says environmentalist


KOTA KINABALU: The preservation and rehabilitation of mangrove forests help mitigate climate change and supports a diverse range of organisms.

Sabah Chief Conservator of Forests, Datuk Frederick Kugan, said mangrove forests are able to sequester carbon from the atmosphere and store carbon belowground as a soil carbon up to four times more efficiently than other forest types.
