Policewoman remanded for bribery


SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained an order to remand a policewoman for five days for allegedly soliciting and accepting a RM1,000 bribe.

An MACC spokesperson said magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran signed the order following an application by the commission.

“The suspect, who is in her 30s, will be remanded until March 30.

“The cop had allegedly deman­ded the bribe to reduce a fine related to a case she was probing.She allegedly committed the crime on March 20,” said the spokesperson.

The suspect was arrested in her office at noon on March 25.

When contacted, state MACC director Awangkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act.
