KLANG: Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah reminds Muslims in the state to be wary of deviant or confusing new Islamic teachings.
“If there is any form of confusing new teaching or belief, it is the responsibility of every Muslim to refer to the Mufti and the fatwa that has been issued.
“It must also be immediately reported to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) for purpose of enforcement,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin in his Royal address during the breaking of fast with the masses at the new Raja Bendahara Tengku Badar Shah Mosque at Denai Alam, Shah Alam on Wednesday (March 26).

The Sultan also launched the mosque as well as handed out Hari Raya contributions to the needy.
Sultan Sharafuddin said deviant teachings were fast mushrooming and it appeared as if it was easy to influence Muslims into believing the divergent teachings that were being propagated.
“I want this calamity to be prevented early so that the deviant teachings won’t continue to grow and spoil the creed of the Muslims.
“As for the deviant groups that have faced legal action, supervision must be carried out so that they cannot revive themselves such as the banned Al Arqam group which moved on under the name of Rufaqa and finally Global Ikhwan (GISB),’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin.

The Ruler said Muslims in the state must all play a role in maintaining unity, even though there were differences amongst them, and these (the differences) must be prevented from blowing up and causing division.
Sultan Sharafuddin advised everyone not to criticise and slander each other because it can turn into "cancer" that will kill the unity amongst Muslims.
His Highness said it was a demand in Islam for Muslims to preserve and strengthen kinship and togetherness.
The Ruler reminded Muslims to be trustworthy and honest as Islam demanded its followers to always be truthful.

Sultan Sharafuddin said it was indeed unfortunate that he still heard about dishonesty and lack of integrity amongst those entrusted with power and responsibility such as theft and misappropriation of mosque collections, misappropriation of money meant for orphans as well as theft of collected zakat funds.
“In fact, cheating at a higher level by unlicensed tour companies that manage Haj and Umrah packages is also often reported.
“Those who cheat receive big profits on the difficulties and suffering of other Muslims.
“All these (dishonest acts) involve money belonging to Muslims and the perpetrators are mostly Muslims as well.
“Why must all this happen within the Muslim community?’’ asked Sultan Sharafuddin.

The Ruler queried again if the perpetrators did not even have a little sympathy for the victims that had fallen prey to their cheating.
Sultan Sharafuddin hoped for this Ramadhan to be a turning point for Muslims to continue being patient, disciplined, trustworthy and able to control their negative desires throughout their lifetimes as opposed to only during the month of Ramadhan.
