Kedah declares March 30 state holiday in conjunction with Hari Raya

ALOR SETAR: The Kedah government announced that this Sunday (March 30) is a State Public Holiday in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the decision on the holiday had been agreed at the State Exco Meeting held at Wisma Darul Aman, here, Wednesday (March 26).

Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi said a special assistance payment of RM1,000 had been credited to 5,600 civil servants in the state in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

"... The RM1,000 Raya bonus has been credited to state civil servants which is combined with the payment of salaries this month (March) and it involves a total amount of RM5.6mil," he told reporters here Wednesday.

In November last year, Muhammad Sanusi had announced a special assistance of RM2,000 to civil servants in Kedah which would be channelled in March in conjunction with Aidilfitri and in June the same year.

Earlier, he presented incentives amounting to RM316,450 to athletes and officials in conjunction with the 2023 Asean Cambodia Para Games, Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Sarawak Para Sukma 2024 as well as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which took place at the Seri Mentaloon Hall here.

He said the reward is expected to give encouragement and confidence to all athletes and officials involved to continue to create more success and make Kedah proud on the world stage.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the RM200,000 donation from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that mobilised the Aidilfitri fund to help Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) footballers, Muhammad Sanusi expressed his gratitude.

"... the state government and the Kedah Football Association (KFA) in particular appreciate those who come to help, do good in Kedah and help football players in the state," he said.

On Tuesday (March 25), the players and officials of the KDA FC team breathed a sigh of relief after receiving a total donation of RM200,000 through the Kedah Football Players Aidilfitri Fund which was presented by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. - Bernama
