Anwar gives Tengku Zafrul nod to take on BAM role


PETALING JAYA: Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz says he has received the green light from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to lead the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

"I would like to thank BAM for nominating me. The Prime Minister has given the approval for me to be BAM president," he said at the Program Iftar Kasih Ukhwah Yayasan TZA, Kolej Komuniti Kelana Jaya on Tuesday (March 25).

"My tenure as a minister will be until December this year, and thereafter I can focus on BAM," he said.

Tengku Zafrul, who is Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, was appointed as Senator for a second term on Dec 3, 2022 for a three-year term until Dec 2, 2025.

The event was also graced by Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

During BAM's council meeting on Tuesday (March 25), acting president Datuk V. Subramaniam said its members unanimously agreed to nominate Tengku Zafrul for BAM president.
