Klang Valley goes dark for Earth Hour

PETALING JAYA: Dozens of building owners in Klang Valley and the rest of the country observed Earth Hour 2025, including grassroots movements organised by World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Traditionally taking place at the last Saturday of every March, Earth Hour is a global movement where individuals, communities and businesses switch off non-essential lights for at least one hour from 8.30pm to raise awareness and take action on environmental issues.

On its website, WWF Malaysia said the hour-long symbolic move is meant to spur the people to reconnect with the planet, to inspire others to care for the planet, and to think of ways to make an impact.

It also appealed to building owners that took part in Earth Hour to email their “before and during” pictures so that it could compile a report to be published on May 22, which is the International Day for Biological Diversity.
