IPOH: Two youths are expected to be charged for concealing fishing equipment stolen from a shop at Jalan Changkat Jong in Teluk Intan.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Chua Kok Lian said the two teenagers, 13 and 19, are expected to be charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code at the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday (Aug 12).
ACP Chua said the police received instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office to charge both teenagers after completing the investigation papers.
"The two suspects were arrested on Tuesday (Aug 11), following a burglary report by the shopowner on July 30.
"The shopowner lost about RM8,000 in fishing gear," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
"If found guilty, both could face jail up to seven years, fined or both," he added.
ACP Chua said members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to help in hiding or disposing of items obtained from criminal activities.
"The public is advised not to buy, accept, keep or help dispose of any items from suspicious sources, as stern action will be taken against them.
"The public should also channel any information related to crime to the police," he said.
