PETALING JAYA: In appreciation of the relationship between the media and MCA, a festive breaking of the fast was held with some 40 practitioners from various agencies and publications.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was in attendance at the event organised at Wisma MCA on Wednesday (March 19).
“Thank you to everyone who attended. MCA deeply appreciates the contributions of our media friends, who have played a crucial role as the fourth estate in the nation’s development.
“May the strong relationship between MCA and the media continue to flourish,” the Ayer Hitam MP said in a Facebook post.
Earlier at the event, Dr Wee, in his brief speech, said that MCA was honoured to organise the yearly event as it is a platform to further strengthen the relationship between the party and media practitioners.
He was grateful for all the news reports published whether it was supportive or critical of the party.
MCA receives it with an open heart. Don't worry, MCA is a party that will not sue the media," he said jokingly.
Also present were MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, information bureau chairman Chan Quin Er and information bureau deputy chairmen Mike Chong Yew Chuan and Neow Choo Seong as well as Pahang MCA Youth chief Wong Siew Mun.
Meanwhile, Quin Er, in her speech, said that even without the resources and advantages enjoyed by the ruling party, MCA greatly appreciates the support and cooperation from media friends.
"With the help of media platforms, MCA's voice can be heard by more people, and our views and stance can be explained to the community.
"Although our strength is limited, we will still speak out and will not back down even when faced with pressure or threats," she said.
The MCA Information Bureau also thanked all those who attended the event and hoped the relationship with the media will grow closer.
