PKR 2025 election, over 17,500 nominations received, says party election committee

PETALING JAYA: More than 17,500 applications were received for nominations for the 2025 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) elections, involving 222 branches across the country, after the nomination process closed on March 16.

The Chairman of the Party Election Committee, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said that the large number of nominations also reflected the high commitment of party members in strengthening the internal democratic process, which is mature and inclusive.

"Now, the election will enter the next phase, which is the objection process against the candidates, to be held from 12pm on March 18 until 11:59pm on March 20. After that, the appeal process for objections will be open from March 24 to 25 to ensure transparency and fairness for all candidates running," she said in a statement on Tuesday (March 18) reported by Sinar Harian.

Dr Zaliha added that after going through all these processes, the final list of nominations for the branches, Angkatan Muda Keadilan branches, and Women’s branches will be announced on March 28.

"The election committee would like to express its appreciation to all party members who have participated in this process with enthusiasm and dedication. This large participation proves that PKR continues to be a platform for democratic, inclusive, and grassroots participation," she said.

In this regard, the committee reminded all candidates and supporters to continue adhering to the election procedures to ensure the process runs smoothly, transparently, and harmoniously," she said.
