TO educate the younger generation on its contributions, MIC will celebrate “MIC Day” annually on Aug 4, Makkal Osai reported.

Its president Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran said a grand celebration will be organised to commemorate the day the party was officially founded 79 years ago.

The party was renamed the Malaysian Indian Congress in 1963 after the formation of the Federation of Malaysia.

He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Barisan Nasional’s victory in the Ayer Kuning by-election.

> A young man in India was strangled to death because he refused to participate in the Holi festival celebrations, Makkal Osai reported.

Hansraj, 25, from Rajasthan who was preparing for an important government employment exam, declined to participate in the festivities when three neighbours attempted to smear him with coloured powder.

Furious, the youngsters assaulted him, leading to his death.

Hansraj’s family staged a protest, dispersing only after police pledged to apprehend the suspects.
