16,500 litres of illicit diesel seized near Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: The Johor branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has seized 16,500 litres of diesel worth RM50,000 from a company in Parit Yaani for allegedly storing the controlled item without a valid permit.

Johor director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the raid was carried out under Ops Pantau 2025 – Bekalan by five enforcement officers at about 2pm on Thursday (March 14).

"During the inspection, the company failed to provide valid documentation, such as licences and permits, for possessing and storing diesel," she said in a statement on Saturday (March 15).

Further investigations revealed that the company's diesel storage permit had expired four years ago, and there were elements of document forgery.

The seized diesel was stored in three tanks, allegedly meant for use in heavy machinery.

A local man in his 50s, believed to be the company’s director, will be called in to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961. If found guilty, a corporation could face a fine of up to RM2mil for the first offence and RM5mil for subsequent offences.

Lilis Saslinda stated that the ministry would take swift action and would not compromise in enforcing the law to curb the misappropriation of controlled goods.

She also urged the public to report any suspicious activity involving subsidised or controlled goods through the ministry's complaint channels.

"The public can lodge complaints via WhatsApp at 019-8488000, the e-Aduan portal at e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my, the call centre at 1-800-886-800, or through the Ez Adu mobile app," she added.
