PMO: Proposed urban renewal law will not sideline bumiputra community

PETALING JAYA: The proposed urban renewal legislation will not sideline or marginalise the Malays and the bumiputra community from urban development, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

His senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said that the Prime Minister once again dismissed allegations related to the proposed legislation.

"The Prime Minister reiterated that the proposed law will not force or evict any land or property owners, nor will it alter the percentage of bumiputra ownership or change the ethnic composition of any area.

"Therefore, there is no issue of marginalising the Malay or bumiputra communities from the progress of urban development as the main goal is to ensure the improvement of the quality of life in urban communities while simultaneously enhancing the quality of life for the Malay community," said Tunku Nashrul in the daily Prime Minister's Office briefing on Monday (March 10).
