KUALA LUMPUR: The cause of death of the tribunal officer assigned to the Customs Department was the result of compression of the neck due to ligature strangulation, says Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

“Based on the post-mortem result and explanations by the pathologist, the case is still classified as sudden death,” he said when contacted.

The post-mortem on the deceased was conducted from 11am until 1.30pm yesterday at Hospital Sultan Idris’ Forensic and Pathology Department.

Comm Rusdi said the 45-year-old victim was believed to have died between 9am on Monday and 8pm on Tuesday.

It is learnt that the officer, who was from the Attorney General’s Chambers, had been found dead with his neck and legs tied with a cable tie at the Treasury building.

Comm Rusdi said a distress call was received at 10.56am on Wednesday.

“A team of police personnel was dispatched to the scene.

“They discovered the victim lying on the office floor with his legs and neck bound with a cable tie,” he said.
