THE late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu will be laid to rest near music icon Teresa Teng, actor Godfrey Gao and singer Coco Lee, reported China Press.
According to a source, Hsu’s husband, Korean DJ Koo Jun-yup, has decided on Chin Pao San (Golden Treasure Mountain) cemetery as his wife’s final resting place.
Hsu’s family has yet to confirm the matter.
Chin Pao San is a private cemetery located on a mountainside in Jinshan district, New Taipei.
It was reported that Hsu, 48, died of pneumonia on Feb 2 after contracting the flu during a vacation in Japan for Chinese New Year with Koo.
Her body was cremated, and Koo brought her ashes back to her home in Taiwan.
Hsu is survived by two children from her previous marriage with Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
> An increase in female inmates at the Tapah prison has led to a severe shortage in sanitary pads, forcing the prison to seek donations from non-governmental organisations, Sin Chew Daily reported.
One of these associations is the Malaysia Prison Dharma Teaching Association, which received a request for 1,200 pads.
Association chairman Lee Guan Ho said the prison took in some 400 female inmates just after Chinese New Year, which led to a sudden dearth of female hygiene products.
In just a few days, the association managed to collect more than 2,000 pads from donors and send them to the prison.
“The prison does provide sanitary pads. However, they were unable to cope with the sudden increase in inmates.
“Not only did this (donation drive) help solve the prison’s problem, it also showcased the care and support from society towards the basic needs of female inmates,” Lee said, thanking the contributors.
