Nilai gold shop heist: Two armed robbers strike while accomplice waits in getaway car


NILAI: A gold shop in a supermarket near Bandar Baru Nilai, here, was robbed by three armed masked men on Monday night (March 3).

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said that an individual called MERS 999 at 8.45pm to inform the police about the incident, reported Sinar Harian.

“Acting on the information, a police team from the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) was dispatched to the location, where initial investigations revealed that the robbery incident took place at 8.36pm.

"The suspects are believed to be three men in a vehicle, with two entering the premises while the other waited in the car," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 4).

He said that one suspect is thought to have used a firearm during the incident. Investigations also revealed that there were no injuries, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The case is being probed under section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties).

A 30-second video of the robbery, which allegedly took place at a gold shop in a supermarket, went viral on social media.

The video showed two suspects wearing face masks, stuffing what looks like jewellery into a bag before running away.
