Kuching's BAS.MY service to start March 5

KUCHING: The BAS.MY Kuching stage bus service will commence operations in phases starting Wednesday (March 5).

The Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) said the Q10 route from the Open Air Market here to Serian will be the first to be implemented, involving six new OKU-friendly buses.

"The route covers a distance of 67km one way with 48 bus stops," it said in a statement on Tuesday (March 4).

The BAS.MY Kuching service is implemented under the Federal Government's Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme.

It is expected to be fully implemented by April, involving a total of 56 new buses serving 10 routes.

Sarawak CVLB said passengers can pay fares using credit or debit cards, e-wallets or cash.

It said Malaysian citizens can obtain a monthly pass for RM50 which allows unlimited rides for 30 days.

Students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities can travel for free by applying for a concession card from the operator.

"Sarawak CVLB under Malaysia's Transport Ministry is committed to ensuring that the BAS.MY Kuching service will contribute to better public transport in the Greater Kuching area," it added.
