Cops complete investigation into theft by two officers


KUALA LUMPUR: The police have completed the investigation into the theft of RM300,000 by two police officers.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa (pic) said police have recorded the statements of 21 individuals, including the suspects in the case.

"We have completed the investigation and referred the investigation paper to Bukit Aman before it will be further referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers.

"The Inspector, who was a police station chief, was transferred to Cheras police headquarters pending the investigation while the Corporal will be transferred to an appropriate location within the KL police contingent," he said.

It was previously reported that a police Inspector and a Corporal were detained in connection with theft of RM300,000 cash.

Comm Rusdi had said the duo, aged 44 and 34 were detained on Feb 22

"They have been remanded.

"We have opened an investigation under Section 380 of the Penal Code," he said.

He reminded the public not to speculate on the case.

"We will investigate the case thoroughly and ensure justice is served," he said.
