Astro Audio extends apology, removes DJs over video mocking religion


PETALING JAYA: Astro Audio said it deeply regrets the recent incident involving a video featuring announcers Nabil Ahmad, Azad Jasmin and Radin Amir Affendy Ahmad Aruani, which was shared on ERA's social media platforms.

"We sincerely apologise for causing hurt and disappointment to those affected as the announcers have acknowledged their mistake and issued a public apology.

"As a responsible broadcaster, we take this matter seriously and, after careful consideration, have decided to remove the three individuals from the air until further notice," it said in a statement on Tuesday (March 4).

It said it is committed to upholding the trust of its listeners and maintaining a respectful and inclusive media environment.

"We are taking steps to strengthen our content review processes to ensure that we continue to create programming that reflects the values and expectations of our audience,” it said.

The broadcaster said it is cooperating closely with the authorities and regulators to ensure full compliance with all guidelines and requirements.
