KUALA LUMPUR: Media practitioners enjoyed fun, food and lucky draw prizes in a night dedicated to them at MCA Media Nite 2025.

Also held to celebrate the Year of the Snake, the event brought much revelry, games and entertainment to those present who included the party’s top leaders.

Attendees from various media companies filled the venue at Dewan San Choon at Wisma MCA here last night.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong expressed sincere appreciation to media members.

“The media has a big responsibility to report the truth,” he said, adding that the media is the important fourth estate.

“Sometimes you (the media) are like a microphone amplifying us and other times, a magnifier providing checks and balances.

“That is your role and we appreciate it,” he said.

Dr Wee added that the occasion was meant for everyone to gather with joy and to relax and unwind.

“May fortune go your way in this Year of the Snake,” he said.

The night also featured performances by media practitioners, with some singing, dancing to Chinese New Year songs and staging stand-up comedy.

The Star assistant news editor Martin Carvalho sang a song while playing the guitar.

Also present were MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon as well as Star Media Group chief content officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng and executive editor Loong Meng Yee.
