Newborn found at Pulau Tikus bus stop


GEORGE TOWN: A baby was found at a bus stop in Pulau Tikus here.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the newborn was discovered in a paper bag at the bus stop in Jalan Perak around 10.15am on Sunday (Feb 16).

He said police believed the baby boy had been left there by his mother.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested to assist the investigation, he said, added that she was picked up at 2.20pm at a private hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth to abandon a baby.
