Petra News employees lodge police report claiming discrepancies in salary deductions


KUALA LUMPUR: A group of 15 employees of Petra News Sdn Bhd have lodged a police report at the Travers police station in Brickfields.

In a statement, they said they had lodged the report on Feb 14 after discovering discrepancies with their statutory deductions.

In their police report, they claimed that while statutory deductions had been made from their salaries, Petra News Sdn Bhd had failed to remit both employee and employer contributions for EPF, Perkeso and monthly tax deductions.

They also claimed that they have documented proof of these deductions in their monthly payslips.

Petra News is the publisher of news portals The Malaysian Insight, The Vibes, and Getaran.

According to the statement, the staff have lodged a separate complaint over delays in salary payments with the Labour Department under the Human Resources Ministry, which is currently investigating the matter.
