Sabah Tourism Board honours I-World Travel for community-based tourism

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board has recognised I-World Travel for its commitment to promoting community-based tourism (CoBT) in Sabah.

On Wednesday (Feb 12), STB chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai presented a certificate of recognition to I-World Travel chief executive officer Amity Wong during the company’s Chinese New Year open house.

Bangkuai, who is also the Assistant Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister, praised I-World Travel for actively promoting CoBT experiences, particularly in Tenom and Kudat.

With growing global interest in sustainable and community-driven travel, he reaffirmed Sabah Tourism’s support for industry players who contribute to CoBT’s development.

“By recognising businesses like I-World Travel, we hope to encourage more tourism operators to adopt sustainable models that create meaningful benefits for local communities,” he said.

Also present was STB deputy chief executive officer Tay Shu Lan.
