Motorcycle accident claims life of 33-year-old in Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: A 33-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a fatal crash early Sunday morning (Feb 9) at KM11 of the Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi, here.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that the accident occurred at 5.45am when the rider, who was travelling from Taman Desa Cemerlang to his workplace in Singapore, lost control of his motorcycle.

“The vehicle veered off the road and collided with a streetlamp on the left shoulder.

“As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement here on Sunday (Feb 9).

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The police have urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent such tragedies. Witnesses with relevant information are encouraged to contact the police at 07-3864222 to assist in the investigation.
