GEORGE TOWN: The holidaymaker from the United States, who fell from the seventh floor of Gurney Plaza shopping mall, is believed to have been facing personal issues with his lover.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 25-year-old's condition was stable and that he had been transferred out of the emergency ward.

"Based on information from his family, he was experiencing issues with his partner. However, we have not yet spoken to him directly," he told reporters on Thursday (Feb 6).

He said the tourist, who arrived on Feb 1 for a vacation, is scheduled to leave on Feb 12.

The man sustained head injuries after falling from the seventh floor and landing on Chinese New Year decorations on the ground floor of the mall on Wednesday.
