No foul play found in tragic death

PETALING JAYA: No signs of foul play have been found during preliminary investigations into the death of Yong Jia Yein (pic).

Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Azaharudin Tajudin said the body was found inside a grey car at a parking lot in Pantai Remis, Jeram.

The police were notified of the discovery at 2am yesterday.

“All doors of the vehicle were locked, and the Fire and Rescue Department was called to assist in removing the body from the car,” he said in a statement.

“Preliminary investigations show no physical injuries or signs of foul play. The body has been sent to Hospital Tanjong Karang for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death,” he added.

A missing person’s report was lodged at 12.36am on Jan 31 following her disappearance on Jan 29.

Yong, 34, was last seen leaving her home at the Pelangi Utama Condominium here.

She was driving a blue Proton Iswara.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said forensic reports from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission are required to complete investigations linked to the “ham” controversy involving comedian Harith Iskander and social media user Cecelia Yap Song.

Speaking at an Op Selamat appreciation ceremony yesterday, he said this is the reason the investigations are still ongoing.

He added that the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor on Thursday.

Previously, Harith had gotten into hot water after a controversial coffee joke related to the “ham and cheese” sandwich issue.

Yap had also courted controversy after making remarks about the uproar, leading to police reports against the duo.

In an unrelated matter, Razarudin said the two suspects who killed a Thai police officer and his son in Narathiwat province in Thailand might not be in Malaysia.

The IGP added that their Thai counterparts have not contacted them for assistance in the matter.

“We have not gotten anything from Thailand yet. No requests.

“However, we are acting on media reports.

“We do not want any such criminals to enter Malaysia,” he said, adding it is also possible that they had not entered the country.

Previously, it was reported that the decorated police officer and his son were killed in an ambush on Jan 14.

Reports quoting a Thai police spokesperson said the suspects were identified as Abdullah Samok, 30, from Rueso district, and Abdullah Bulat, 40, from Chanae district.
