Waiting time at government clinics now 30 minutes, says Dr Dzulkefly

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has successfully reduced waiting times at government clinics from three hours to just 30 minutes.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said this achievement was made possible through the commitment to implementing the health digital transformation agenda.

According to him, this year marks a crucial period for executing all planned initiatives to realise this agenda.

“We have digitalised key healthcare services, reducing waiting times at primary care clinics from three hours to just 30 minutes.

“The number of clinics has increased from 107 between 2007 and 2022 to 159 in 2024.

“Earlier this year alone, that number rose by 48.6%, and 2025 will be the year of implementation. Now is the time to deliver on our promises,” he said in a post on the X platform on Tuesday.

Previously, during a Dewan Rakyat session in March, Dzulkefly said that the health ministry aims to implement digital transformation across all healthcare facilities nationwide within the next four to five years.

This includes reviewing all existing digital systems at the health ministry, formulating a new digitalisation strategy in line with current technological advancements, and ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of planned initiatives.
