PETALING JAYA: Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC), has been honoured in the premier of Newsweek’s Asia’s Top Private Hospitals 2025 ranking.

This recognition highlights the hospital's commitment to excellence, particularly in the fields of orthopaedics and ophthalmology.

According to the ranking, SMC is recognised as the top hospital in Malaysia for four out of five key procedures: knee surgery and knee replacement, shoulder surgery, cataract surgery and eye refractive surgery.

Additionally, it is ranked second in Asia for cataract surgery and third in Asia for refractive eye surgery.

SMC is also featured in the top 10 of Asia’s ranking for hip surgery and hip replacement (sixth); knee surgery and knee replacement (sixth); and shoulder surgery (10th).

“We are honoured to be ranked among the best in Asia for key specialities such as orthopaedics and ophthalmology. It is a testament to our relentless pursuit of clinical excellence.

“The recognition also underscores the dedication of medical specialists and other health care professions in providing a high standard of multidisciplinary care and treatment to our Malaysian and international patients,” said Sunway Healthcare Group president Datuk Lau Beng Long.

As Malaysia’s largest private quaternary hospital, SMC continues to be a leader in medical innovation and patient care. The hospital offers 28 Centres of Excellence, supported by a diverse multidisciplinary team that provides personalised treatment within a holistic care framework.

With a strong focus on advancing technology and improving patient outcomes, the Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence, for instance, continues to set new benchmarks in the field of orthopaedics.

The latest accolade builds on SMC’s success in the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2024 rankings, where it was named one of the top 250 hospitals globally.

The hospital was also featured in Newsweek’s Best Specialist Hospitals Asia Pacific list for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
