Driving growth together


KUALA LUMPUR: The spirit of compassion, which emphasises the importance of loving, respecting and appreciating fellow citizens and the nation, must continue to be upheld in driving the country’s development together, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In leading several ministers in their wishes in conjunction with Federal Territories Day, Anwar said harmony and unity must be prioritised and never forgotten in the nation’s drive for growth.

“This is in line with the Madani concept, which urges us all to hold tightly to the spirit of cooperation in achieving the country’s development and progress agenda, both for today and the future,” he said in a Facebook post Bernama reported.

In the post, the Prime Minister extended his Federal Territories Day greetings to all residents of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

Federal Territories Day is celebrated on Feb 1 each year to commemorate the declaration of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan as Federal Territories, and this year marks its 21st celebration.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said this year’s celebration, themed “Wilayah Persekutuan Kita,” embodies the values of harmony, togetherness and close cooperation in driving shared development.

“Let us further strengthen the values ​​of unity, understanding and harmony among ourselves so that we remain strong and united in facing any challenges that may arise.

“Together, let us develop our federal territories!” he said in a Facebook post.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil called on residents of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, to continue working together to ensure that the nation’s current progress is sustained and benefits future generations.

In a Facebook post marking the occasion, Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, said that the Federal Territories serve as a symbol of Malaysia’s prosperity.

“Today, we commemorate Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan as Federal Territories. The Federal Territories are not only the centre of the country’s development but also a symbol of Malaysia’s unity and prosperity.”
