Washington plane crash: Anwar expresses sadness at lives lost

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his sadness over the tragic aviation disaster at Reagan National Airport in Washington DC.

Anwar conveyed his grief on his social media platforms and hoped their families find strength and solace through this very tough time.

"Families and friends in the United States, Russia, China, the Philippines and Germany are now mourning their loved ones as emergency services valiantly carry out recovery efforts," he said.

Anwar said it is especially heartbreaking to learn of the loss of young and gifted figure skaters who had such bright futures ahead.

He added that the people of Malaysia are thinking of the victims and their families too.

More than 60 people were killed after an American Airlines regional passenger jet collided with a US Army Black Hawk Down helicopter on Wednesday and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan Washington National Airport.
