Motorcyclist dies after hitting lamp post in JB


JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a lamp post on Jalan Masai in Kong Kong here.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred at 10.45am on Sunday (Jan 26) when the victim's motorcycle experienced a mechanical failure.

“His vehicle was being pushed from behind by a 52-year-old man on another motorcycle.

“Both riders were travelling from Masai towards Kong Kong.

"The riders lost control of their motorcycles.

“The 36-year-old victim collided with a lamp post, while the other rider fell onto the side of the road,” he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 27).

Both riders were rushed to Hospital Sultan Ismail by ambulance. The victim succumbed to severe head injuries at 3pm while being treated, ACP Sohaimi said.

He added that the other motorcyclist sustained minor wounds.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Sohaimi also reminded road users to adhere to safety regulations and traffic laws.
