Man killed after crashing car into toll divider in JB


JOHOR BARU: A 23-year-old man died after his car met with an accident at Kempas toll plaza here on Sunday (Jan 26) morning.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said that the fatal incident occurred at around 6.15am at KM7.8 here along the North-South Expressway heading south.

“The incident is believed to have happened when the victim lost control of his vehicle where the car hit the concrete toll divider.

“Due to the crashed impact, the victim sustained serious head injuries where he died at the scene,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

ACP Balveer added the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those who witnessed the incident to contact Johor Baru police hotline number at 07-5563122.

Meanwhile, Kempas Fire and Rescue station operation commander Wan Nor Affendi said that eight firemen together with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) were immediately deployed to the scene.

“Firemen have to use special equipment to pull out the victim from the wrecked car. However, Health Ministry personnel at the scene confirmed the victim has passed away,” he added.
