Fire destroys house, vehicles in Labuan, occupant injured


LABUAN: A semi-wooden house at Taman Rancha-Rancha Phase 1 here was completely destroyed by a fire early on Friday (Jan 24) morning, which also damaged two vehicles, an Audi and a Suzuki Swift.

The fire broke out at approximately 5am, with one occupant sustaining injuries while attempting to salvage belongings from the burning property.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Abdul Rahman Ali said they received the distress call about the fire at 5.16am and dispatched several engines along with 25 personnel.

"Our team arrived at the scene in under 30 minutes, but the fire had spread rapidly,” he told Bernama.

He said the firefighting team managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour, preventing further damage to surrounding properties.

Abdul Rahman said losses and the cause of the fire are being investigated. - Bernama
