Male hairstylist claims trial to charge of sexual crime against actor in Melaka


MELAKA: A 42-year-old male hair salon owner and makeup artist claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here to a charge of committing a sexual crime against a part-time actor.

Saril Sarip pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Judge Haderiah Siri on Thursday (Jan 23).

According to the charge, the accused allegedly committed an unnatural act by forcefully placing the 18-year-old male victim's genitals in his mouth without consent, causing fear and distress to the victim.

The incident reportedly occurred around 4.15pm at the accused's hair salon in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh, here on Jan 17.

The charge was framed under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between five and 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ali Hussain prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer L. Sharveen.

The court set bail at RM5,000 with one surety while fixing Feb 24 as the next mention date.
