Guard denies having three machetes


KOTA BARU: A security guard has pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to a charge of unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, namely three machetes.

Nik Azahar Mohamed, 51, was yesterday charged with possessing three machetes measuring 51cm, 60cm and 62cm unlawfully at Taman KUB, Kampung Chica, Kubang Kerian here, at 2.10am on Jan 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Kamarul Hasyime Rosli did not offer any bail, Bernama reported.

However, lawyer Muhammad Husni Mubarak Ghazali appealed for a low bail, saying that his client works part-time with a monthly income of RM700.

Judge Zulkifli Abdullah allowed bail at RM8,000 in one surety and set Feb 25 for the case mention and document submission.
