Men in viral video of cats being stuffed in sacks deny claims of animal abuse

KAJANG: Police are investigating a viral video showing a group of men stuffing cats into sacks outside an apartment in Batu 9, Cheras.

The video sparked claims that the men were moving the cats as there had been complaints about the animals in the apartment area.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said that the group had lodged a police report to deny they were abusing the animals.

"A man representing the group has come forward to lodge a counter report to deny the claims of animal abuse," he said on Sunday (Jan 12).

ACP Naazron added that the representative was also a member of the apartment resident committee and that the incident had occurred on Saturday (Jan 11).

He added that further checks showed that the Veterinary Department were also aware of the incident and that a complaint had been filed with them as well.
