Senai raid uncovers booze with RM61,000 in unpaid duties


KULAI: The Region II Marine Police seized liquor and beer with more than RM61,000 in unpaid duties during a raid in the Senai industrial area here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the raiding team inspected a double-storey shop lot at around 8pm on Thursday (Jan 9) night.

“The raid led to an arrest of a 41-year-old man at the scene.

"We also seized cartons and boxes containing a variety of liquor bottles and beer cans.

“We (estimate) that the alcoholic beverages have unpaid duties of RM61,504,” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 10).

ACP Tan added that the suspect, a caretaker of the premises, has been remanded for six days until Wednesday (Jan 15) to help with the investigation under Section 135(1)(D) of the Customs Act 1967 and Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976.
