Singapore tops global passport ranking, Malaysia at 12th place


PETALING JAYA: Singapore has claimed the top spot as the world's most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 195 countries.

In the latest quarterly ranking published by CNN Travel from Henley Passport, Japan holds second place with visa-free access to 193 destinations, including neighbouring China.

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, and South Korea share third place with visa-free travel to 192 destinations.

For the second consecutive year, Malaysia ranks 12th in the index survey, allowing visa-free travel to 183 out of 227 countries.

It improved two spots, climbing from 14th place in 2023.

"With visa-free access to 191 destinations, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden hold fourth place," said CNN Travel.

Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United States, with access to 190 countries, rank fifth.

China has climbed to 60th place after being ranked 94th in 2015.

At the bottom is Afghanistan at 106, with visa-free access to only 26 destinations, followed by Syria at 105 and Iraq at 104.
