Teen girl charged with stabbing aunt in Bukit Mertajam


BUKIT MERTAJAM: A teenage girl pleaded not guilty at a Magistrate's Court here for stabbing her aunt on Friday (Jan 3).

The 14-year-old entered the plea after the charges were read out to her by a court interpreter before Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan.

The accused nodded as an indication of understanding the charge that was read to her and claimed trial.

According to the charge sheet, the teenager is accused of intentionally causing injury to her aunt using a knife.

She was accused of committing the offence at a house in Jalan Perai Jaya at about 11.30am on Jan 3.

She was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with the use of a dangerous weapon or means.

She faces imprisonment of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or any two of the three punishments.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Zulfadzly Hassan prosecuted while the accused was represented by Muhaimin Hashim.

On Friday, the media reported that a 35-year-old woman sustained abdominal injuries after being stabbed with a knife by her niece during a quarrel at the flat.

Police received a report on the incident at 11.30am

The accused was remanded for six days to help in the investigation.
