'Homewrecker' attacked by five women in Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: A 36-year-old woman was ambushed and assaulted by five other women in Sabah’s southwestern district Tawau after she was accused of being a ‘homewrecker’ earlier this week.

The victim, a divorcee, claimed that her vehicle’s tyres were deliberately punctured prior to the incident at around 11am on Monday (Dec 30).

It is learned that tensions flared after the woman was accused of being a “homewrecker”. However, she maintained that her boyfriend was single.

Confirming the incident, Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin revealed that a report was lodged at 4.41pm on Wednesday (Jan 1).

“In the report, the woman claimed she was attacked by five other women while in the hotel car park. Additionally, her vehicle was vandalised, with its tyres punctured,” he said.

Police have since launched an investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 427 for vandalism.

Acting swiftly, officers tracked down and detained five suspects, aged between 16 and 62.

“We have secured a remand for the suspects and are pursuing further investigations, including identifying witnesses to shed more light on the incident,” Jasmin added.
