Luxury car catches fire on Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge

GEORGE TOWN: A luxury car caught fire at KM18 of the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge on Monday (Dec 30).

A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the incident occurred at about 3pm on the left side of the bridge, island-bound.

"The fire destroyed almost 80% of the vehicle," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 30).

The spokesman said a team of firemen from the Bayan Baru and Batu Kawan fire stations was sent to douse the fire.

Balik Pulau OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said police investigations showed the fire was caused when the car hit a vehicle battery in the middle of the bridge.

No one was injured in the incident.
