OK for Muslims to wish Christians 'Merry Christmas', says Jakim

PETALING JAYA: It is acceptable for Muslims to wish Christians "Merry Christmas" as long as it is within the spirit of goodwill, says the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

In a Facebook post on Sunday (Dec 22), Jakim said such wishes must be made in a spirit of goodwill and to maintain good relations.

However, it must not acknowledge or affirm the beliefs of another religion nor involve the use of any religious symbols or emblems.

The post quoted the Federal Territories Mufti's Office as its source.
