CCTV footage shows missing teen visited boyfriend’s house

KUALA LUMPUR: Teenager Yap Xin Yuan was believed to have visited her boyfriend's house before she was reported missing in Cheras here.

According to a closed-circuit television recording her parents obtained from her boyfriend’s neighbour, Yap was shown arriving via an e-hailing car around 8.45am on Thursday (Dec 19), Sin Chew Daily reported.

However, the parents expressed suspicions when they were told she had arrived at a different time by Yap’s boyfriend.

"The boyfriend's statement is doubtful," Yap's parents said during a press conference held by Balakong assemblyman Ong Chun Wei on Sunday.

Her mother, 42, said she went to the boyfriend's house in the hope of getting more details about the daughter's disappearance a day after she went missing.

"He said my daughter dropped by there around 4pm, they had a meal together but they then got into an argument, so she called for an e-hailing ride and left about an hour later," she said.

Unable to get more information, the mother went knocking on the neighbours' doors and one of them provided the surveillance camera recording.

The 15-year-old teenager was reported missing on Friday, last seen wearing a red shirt at the Batu 11 Cheras basketball court, according to Kajang police.

The mother said her husband, 43, sent their daughter for a lion dance practice at Batu 11 Cheras at 8.30am on Thursday (Dec 19).

"When we prepared to pick her up at 10.30pm, we called her but she did not answer.

"So we contacted the lion dance centre to find out that they were not open that day," she said,

Yap is 155cm tall, has long hair and uses oral braces.

Those with information can contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Tasnim Mohamed Not at 014-620 9960 or Kajang police at 03-8911 4222 or any nearby police station," he said.
