FLYsiswa subsidy increased to RM400 to ease students' travel costs, says PM

SHAH ALAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on Thursday (Dec 12) that the FLYsiswa subsidy for purchasing flight tickets will be increased from RM300 to RM400 per person, effective Jan 1.

He stated that this initiative is part of the government's efforts to alleviate the burden on students from Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan who face high air ticket prices when returning to their home states.

"That's why we are providing assistance through FLYsiswa, and for next year, we are raising it to RM400 from RM300 previously. This is our way of showing the government's concern to slightly ease the burden on students from the affected states," he said during the launch of the FLYsiswa Carnival and Madani Student Transportation Carnival at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam.

Also present were Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
