Don't make assumptions in unburied baby case, says Health Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has called for calm and for relevant authorities to find out what truly happened in the case where a dead baby was left unburied.

"I fully understand the issue currently in focus regarding the deceased infant whose body could not be managed.

"I sincerely urge everyone to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations, including our own efforts on the ground," he said in the Parliament building here on Wednesday (Dec 11).

Claims had arisen online that the baby was left unburied as the family was unable to settle the hospital bill.

Extending his condolences to the family, Dzulkefly urged everyone to show compassion and empathy over the issue.

"These are not easy allegations to handle. We should be patient and obtain the true facts before making any assumptions that we might later regret," he said.

He noted that he would wait for comprehensive findings from all relevant authorities, including the ministry's Private Medical Practice Control Section (CKAPS).
