PETALING JAYA: The auction of items belonging to entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, better known as Datuk Seri Vida, originally scheduled for Dec 9, has been postponed, The Star's Malay language news portal mStar reports.
This follows the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to grant Datuk Seri Vida's request, as the defendant, to delay the process on Friday (Dec 6).
Samir Zainal, the lawyer representing Ah Design Communication, said that the postponement would allow the defendant to reassess whether the seized items are her personal property or belong to her company, Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd.
"The auction is postponed because the court allowed Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd's application to temporarily delay it in order to determine the true ownership of the seized items," he said when contacted by mStar on Saturday.
Additionally, Samir said that discussions would be held with his client, who is also the plaintiff in the case, to decide whether to appeal the court's decision.
"The case management is postponed to Jan 10 next year, and I can't comment further as I need to discuss with my client whether to appeal for further action," he added.
On Nov 25, approximately 727 items belonging to Datuk Seri Vida were seized from her three-storey bungalow in Meru Heights, Ipoh.
This action followed her failure to settle outstanding payments to the construction contractor, Ah Design Communication, amounting to RM1,060,285 in 2018.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court issued a judgment on Oct 29 last year, ordering Datuk Seri Vida to settle the debt, and if she failed to do so, a writ of seizure and sale would be issued.
The company is said to have collaborated with Datuk Seri Vida for refurbishing her office building, Vida All Star Studio, located at Elite Industrial Park, Section 33, Shah Alam.
